Job summary

Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City is seeking an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician to perform maintenance, calibration and repair of medical instrumentation across multiple categories. The role requires attention to safety and adherence to manufacturer specifications.

The person will schedule preventive maintenance, conduct performance assurance testing, provide in-service education, and mentor level one and two technicians in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Applicable experience in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair.
• Driver's license valid in state(s) of employment.
• Associate degree in electrical engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, testing, calibration and repair of biomedical instrumentation.
• Schedule preventive maintenance and performance assurance testing.
• Calibrate equipment to original manufacturer specifications.
• Provide mentoring and training to level 1–2 biomedical technicians.
• Deliver in-service education on equipment operation and safety.

Job Description

Performs performance assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of medical instrumentation and systems of or more categories of Biomedical instrumentation. Schedules and performs preventive maintenance, performance assurance testing, electrical safety inspections, and schedules repairs to correct failed equipment. Repairs and calibrates equipment to bring them up to the original manufacturers specifications. Conducts analyses to identify symptoms, definition of problems, option comparisons, appropriate solutions, implementation, and evaluation of results. Provides in-service education to staff on equipment operation and safety. Responsible for providing mentoring and training to level one and two Biomedical Electronic Technicians. BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job. 5-10 years of experience required.
