Job description

Overview

The BMET 2, with minimal supervision, maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment. Responsible for performing preventive, predictive, and repair maintenance and other scheduled services on biomedical and related equipment. Performs repairs and other technical activities with minimal supervision. Requires good oral and written communication and customer‑service skills. Maintains equipment inventory records and parts. The BMET 2 can teach basic skills to BMET level one technicians and can mentor others in basic skills. Possesses a comprehensive understanding of common clinical terminology as well as that of life sciences such as anatomy and physiology. Demonstrates the ability to solve service‑line customer‑service problems.

Qualifications
  • Certified Associate in Biomedical Technology (CABT) within 1 year – Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) within 1 year – Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)
  • Driver’s License – Illinois Secretary of State (ILSOS)
  • Education: Experience in lieu of education; Associate’s Degree in a related field
  • Work Experience: Biomedical
Responsibilities
  • Exhibits a comprehensive understanding and can communicate the use of devices supported.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of clinical equipment, radiological, and network medical systems.
  • Demonstrates the ability to oversee department‑related projects.
  • Mentors BMET 1 technicians.
  • Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Provides comprehensive support of acuity equipment for direct patient care.
  • Is familiar with the operations and environment utilized to support hospital, clinic, etc., and has comprehensive experience in the assigned clinical environment.
  • Capable of troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment independently, specifically when on call.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $28.38 per hour – $47.39 per hour. This represents a good‑faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
