Job summary

Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a skilled Biomedical Equipment Technician to inspect, calibrate, test, and repair medical electronic equipment, ensuring safe and compliant operation across clinical and research settings.

You will perform scheduled inspections, test and calibrate components, diagnose malfunctions, and mentor junior BMETs while upholding safety standards and meticulous documentation of work and repairs in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Biomedical Engineering required.
  • 5-7 years Biomedical Engineering Technology experience required.
  • Ability to interpret technical data like circuits, schematics, and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance inspections and performance assurance inspections on specialized electronic equipment to ensure safe and effective operating conditions.
  • Test and calibrate components using manuals, troubleshooting techniques, and code requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, timely, and accurate.
  • Repair and replace complex biomedical electronic equipment and systems.
  • Install and adjust a variety of electronic biomedical and research equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions with accuracy and precision.
  • Function as the senior technologist to provide guidance and mentorship to other BMETs.

Education

Associate's Degree Biomedical Engineering required

  • Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred
