Job Description - Biomed Engineering Technician III (2500012T)

The Biomed Engineering Tech III ensures medical equipment reliability through preventive maintenance inspections, meeting regulatory and departmental goals.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Interact with hospital departments to ensure equipment meets their needs.
  • Operate test equipment for inspections and maintenance.
  • Repair and troubleshoot medical equipment using manufacturer schematics.
  • Communicate status to customers, document work, and follow through promptly.
  • Participate in equipment selection, installation, setup, and disposition.
  • Evaluate service quality from manufacturers and third-party service groups.
  • Assist in updating the Medical Equipment Management Plan.
  • Engage in special projects involving medical equipment.
  • Demonstrate project leadership abilities.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required, plus completion of a two-year vocational/technical program or AA degree equivalent in a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing various types of medical equipment.
  • 3+ years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing specialized medical equipment.
Functional Accountabilities
Repair Medical Equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electronic and electromechanical biomedical equipment to subassembly level.
  • Provide on-call coverage as assigned to ensure 24-hour emergency coverage for the hospital.
Prepares Purchase Orders
  • Prepare purchase order request for repair parts, include vendor selection.
  • Follow up and ensure parts have been delivered and installed.
Customer Service
  • Routinely contact requestor regarding assigned work order to notify receipt and estimated time of arrival.
  • Communicate to requestor steps to complete work order and provide any follow-up information.
  • Represent the engineering staff in a professional and helpful manner.
  • When necessary, routinely follow up with manager to communicate or request assistance in order to complete work orders.
Team & Work Relations
  • Communicate with staff and management to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Support the work effort of the team.
  • Assist new team members with general information when necessary.
  • Act as a member of the internal engineering emergency response team.
