• Must be able to work a lab section for the full duration of the class lab.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructor with preparation and operation of laboratory classes (in-person, virtual, or hybrid).
• May provide instruction in the laboratory and assist with grading of laboratory work and related clerical tasks.
• Coordinate set-up, resets, take-down, and meetings as part of running the lab and lecture.

Job description

Position Summary

The Biology Student Laboratory Teaching Assistant (TA2) assists the instructor with preparation & operation of laboratory classes whether in-person, virtual, or hybrid. The TA2 may provide instruction in the laboratory. The TA2 may be called upon to assist with grading of laboratory assignments/quizzes and other clerical work related to the laboratory class experience. TA2 applicants must have taken and passed the course they would TA for with a grade “B” or higher.

The course instructor is the direct supervisor, and the person who makes the final hire decision.

Number of openings depends on course enrollment numbers.

The TA2 must be able to work a laboratory section for the full time the class lab runs, plus allow time for set-up, resets, take-down, meetings with the instructor, grading and other operational activities related to the running of the lab & lecture.

• Must be a La Sierra University student currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 quarter
• Should be cleared and able to start work on or before the desired start date September 21
• Must have taken BIOL466/L within the last 4 years and passed with a grade of B or higher
