Job summary

La Sierra University is seeking a Biology Student Laboratory Teaching Assistant (TA2) to assist the instructor in preparing and operating biology lab classes in-person, virtually, or hybrid. The TA2 will provide hands-on instruction during labs and may assist with grading and related clerical tasks to support the lab experience.

Applicants must be enrolled as a La Sierra University student for Fall 2026, have completed BIOL185/L or BIOL474/L with a B or higher (within the last 4 years) or

Qualifications

• Must be a La Sierra University student currently enrolled in Fall 2026.
• Must have taken BIOL185/L or BIOL474/L within last 4 years and passed with a grade of B or higher or been TA2 for either course with full wet labs in the last 4 years.
• TA2 must be able to work the full lab duration plus set-up, resets, take-down, grading and other lab activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the instructor with preparation and operation of laboratory classes (in-person, virtual, or hybrid).
• Provide instruction during the laboratory sessions.
• Assist with grading of laboratory assignments/quizzes and related clerical work.
• Coordinate with the instructor to ensure smooth lab operation throughout the term.

Job description

Position Summary

The Biology Student Laboratory Teaching Assistant (TA2) assists the instructor with preparation & operation of laboratory classes whether in-person, virtual, or hybrid. The TA2 provides instruction during the laboratory. The TA2 may be called upon to assist with grading of laboratory assignments/quizzes and other clerical work related to the laboratory class experience. TA2 applicants must have taken and passed the course they would TA for with a grade “B” or higher.
The course instructor is the direct supervisor, and the person who makes the final hire decision.
The TA2 must be able to work a laboratory section for the full time the class lab runs, plus allow time for set-up, resets, take-down, meetings with the instructor, grading and other operational activities related to the running of the lab & lecture.

• Must be a La Sierra University student currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 quarter
• Should be cleared and able to start work on or before the desired start date September 21
• Must have taken BIOL185/L or BIOL474/L within last 4 years and passed with a grade of B or higher or been TA2 for either of these courses with full wet labs in the last 4 years

Wage Range:$16.90 - $17.50/hr
