Job summary

Grayson College in Texas seeks an experienced Biology Professor to teach undergraduate biology courses, including microbiology, anatomy and physiology, general biology, and nutrition, across multiple formats (classroom, online, hybrid). The position offers summer teaching assignments not guaranteed and a salary scale aligned with the college’s faculty schedule.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Master’s degree or higher in biology from an accredited college or university.
  • Master’s degree or higher with 18 hours of graduate courses in biology from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous successful experience teaching in discipline at a high school, university and/or community college is required.
  • Experience tracking student learning outcomes, analyzing resultant data, and implementing improvement plans is required.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to engage students in the learning process and proven commitment to student success.
  • Must maintain collegial attitude with college community as well as outside entities.
  • Must exhibit cooperative attitude and excellent team skills.
  • Position requires excellent computer and multimedia skills.
  • Position requires excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • 65% Teaches at least 15 SCHS of Biology courses per long semester; meets classes as assigned and provides assistance to students outside of class.
  • 10% Works as a team member in the Biological & Physical Sciences Department; complies with the Faculty Handbook and College policy.
  • 10% Develops and updates curriculum as updated by the State of Texas; participates in committees and assists in registration and advising.
  • 10% Contributes to campus assessment by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes to meet core objectives and accreditation requirements.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.

Biology Professor

The department of Biological & Physical Sciences at Grayson College is seeking to fill a full-time faculty position in Biology. The successful candidate will teach lower-division undergraduate lecture and laboratory classes in microbiology, anatomy and physiology, general biology, and nutrition. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. This position instructs in a variety of settings and formats, including dual credit, online, hybrids, distance learning, and occasionally weekend/evenings.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • 10% Contributes to the campus assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.
