Job summary

Albright College seeks a Biology Laboratory Teaching Assistant (TA) to support biology labs for undergraduates in Reading, PA. The TA assists in class and lab sections, answers student questions, and helps implement experiments while modeling safe lab practices.

The role requires current enrollment as a biology major at Albright, good standing, and completion of introductory biology with lab. Strong communication and lab skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student in good standing at Albright College.
• Sophomore, junior, or senior as of the fall semester first day of classes.
• Must be a current biology major, interdisciplinary biology major, or biology co-major.
• Must have completed two semesters of introductory biology (Bio 151, Bio 152) and one semester of an introductory lab (Bio 151 or Bio 152).
• Grades in the above courses must be a minimum of a B+ in the combined course (lecture plus lab).

Responsibilities

• Assist in a specific class and lab section.
• Answer student questions about biology concepts, laboratory techniques, data collection and statistical analysis.
• Operate independently under supervision and provide direction to students to accomplish lab objectives.
• Involve in testing new lab activities, cleaning and organizing the lab, assembling/testing equipment, and monitoring safety practices.
• Assist with lab practical exams.
