Job summary

Indian River State College seeks a Biology Instructor to deliver high-quality instruction in biology across classroom, laboratory, and online formats. The role includes curriculum development, student advising, and engagement in departmental activities to enhance learning outcomes.

The position emphasizes innovative teaching, use of instructional technology, and strategies to support student retention in a diverse college setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Biology required, with at least 18 graduate hours in Biology.
• Experience teaching microbiology, plant biology, biotechnology, biochemistry and related labs.
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
• Ability to work with and teach to diverse populations.
• Experience teaching online environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a syllabus for the lecture class and laboratories.
• Instruct the lecture class and laboratories with a minimum of thirty-six (36) semester hours annually.
• Grade quizzes, tests, and written assignments; enter grades in Canvas on time.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students.
• Develop and maintain course management through the college’s Learning Management system.
• Participate in Department budget preparation and in course planning and development.
