Job summary

Montgomery College invites applications for a full-time Biology faculty member in the NSE area at the Rockville Campus, starting January 2027. The role centers on Microbiology teaching, with responsibilities across Introductory Biology and Genetics, and opportunities for undergraduate research with students.

The position supports diverse student populations, requires teaching across modalities (face-to-face, online, remote, hybrid), and involves service, curriculum work, and advising.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Biological Sciences, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or Genetics or another closely related field.
• One year of demonstrated college-level teaching experience, which may include experience as a graduate teaching assistant or instructor of record.
• Experience designing and/or setting up hands-on laboratory activities with attention to safety protocols.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Teaches non-majors and majors-level biology courses with a minimum of 30 semester hours per academic year.
• Designs, implements, manages, and assesses courses taught in a variety of modes, incorporating the use of a learning management system (Blackboard).
• Engages students in active, collaborative learning approaches and accommodates diverse learning styles.
• Advises students about program curricula and transfer options, and promotes scholarships and internships.
• Stays current in the discipline and pursues professional development.
