Position Overview

Adjunct faculty plans classes and implements and evaluates teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty undertakes the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part‑time faculty member, including office hours. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction for General Biology and upper level Biology courses and the associated labs (e.g., Microbiology and the associated lab). Most of these labs are offered in the afternoon or evenings. Instruction for science lecture courses (Earth Science, Environmental Science) for non‑majors may also be possible.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Biology with outstanding teaching experience in teaching lower level Biology courses OR a Master’s degree in Science Education with at least 18 graduate hours in Biology with outstanding teaching experience in teaching lower-level science courses.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biology with significant experience in Higher Education.
  • Successful experience teaching adults in a post‑secondary institution.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience teaching and developing online courses.
Physical Requirements
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
  • Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
