Job summary

Poutrix is seeking a Biologist/Ecologist to join the Enviro Socio Permitting team in the Texas/Gulf Coast region. The successful candidate will lead wetland and stream delineations, conduct environmental assessments, and support agency coordination for permits.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related fields and 4+ years of relevant experience. The role offers a salary range of $76,11 – $114,165 with comprehensive benefits including health insurance and paid time off.

Job description

Role Description

Arcadis is seeking a Biologist/Ecologist to join the Enviro Socio Permitting team in the Texas/Gulf Coast region. The successful candidate will lead wetland and stream delineations, conduct field biology/habitat assessments, and support general environmental assessments. Responsibilities also include reporting, agency coordination, and permit compliance for Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas, Linear Utilities, and Rail clients.

Role Accountabilities

As an early to mid‑level Biologist/Ecologist, you will apply technical knowledge to deliver high‑quality supports for planning and permitting. You will work collaboratively with resource specialists, planners, engineers, and project managers to provide effective environmental solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead wetland and stream delineations, conduct floral/faunal inventories and habitat assessments.
  • Collect and manage field data using handheld GPS units, tablets, and GIS platforms such as Fulcrum, FieldMaps, and Survey 123.
  • Prepare draft technical reports, work plans, and regulatory permit applications including U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Clean Water Act Section 404 permits, Section 401 Water Quality Certifications, and related national pollutant discharge permits.
  • Support agency consultations on threatened and endangered species and perform desktop environmental assessments for permitting needs.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time, including overnight trips.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in environmental planning and permitting, demonstrating work in the arid west and Atlantic Gulf Coastal plain regions.
  • Experience leading wetland delineations field teams and using GPS field technology.
  • Knowledge of regional ecology, sensitive habitats, and special‑status species.
  • Strong skills in technical report writing, field data management, and communication with technical teams.
  • Experience supporting Clean Water Act Section 404 permits, Section 401 certifications, and threatened and endangered species consultations.
