Job summary

OneBlood in Orlando, FL seeks a capable supervisor to assist with staff supervision, training and manufacturing blood products in compliance with regulatory agencies. This full-time role requires a flexible schedule with an 8-hour shift between 12:00pm and 12:00am, including weekends, and training 8:00am–4:30pm for 3–4 weeks.

You will supervise and coach staff, maintain inventory, perform data entry for production records, operate and QC equipment, and handle administrative duties.

  • Mentors onboarding, annual competency sign-off for staff.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Manufactures, stores and distributes blood and blood products.
  • Performs data entry for production, labeling, storage and shipping.
  • Operates, maintains and performs QC checks on equipment.
  • Quarantines and dispositions unacceptable products and/or samples.
  • Prepares and submits QC samples for testing.
  • Responds to internal customer service requests regarding inventory and discrepancies.
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned.

Overview

Assists with staff supervision, training, and administrative duties. Manufactures blood and blood products in compliance with regulatory/accrediting agencies.

Position Schedule: This is a full-time position and candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule with an 8 hour shift scheduled between the hours of 12:00pm - 12:00amany day of the week including weekends.

Training Schedule: Candidate must be available to attend training Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm for a period of 3-4 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with supervising, coaching & training of assigned staff
  • Performs mentor duties asociated with onboarding new employees, annual competency sign off and responsibilities of assigned staff
  • Ensures adequate inventory of required supplies
  • Manufactures, stores and distributes blood and blood products
  • Performs data entry associated with component production, labeling, storage and shipping ensuring accurate and complete manufacturing records
  • Operates, maintains and perform quality control checks on equipment
  • Performs the quarantine and disposition of unacceptable products and/or samples
  • Prepares and submits quality control samples for testing
  • Responds to internal customer service requests regarding inventory, ABO Discrepancies, TTIMS, BacT Positive, Reference Lab requests
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent and six months prior laboratory, blood bank manufacturing or logistics experience. Prior team lead experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances. Performance of this job could expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens and freezers at or below freezing temperatures (-30F/-35C). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
