Job summary

Specialist Staffing Group seeks a motivated Scientist for the Pharmaceutical Development team in a fully onsite role in San Diego, CA. The position focuses on biologics drug product development with lab-based research for a 5–7 month contract, with standard M-F hours (8am–5pm).

You will execute studies, develop formulations, and perform advanced characterization using LC and related techniques. BS/BA with 4+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with 2 years is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 2 years.
• Hands-on experience in biologic formulation, protein characterization, parenteral drug product development, and sterile injectable/aseptic processing preferred.
• Strong technical writing, organizational, and analytical skills required.

Responsibilities

• Execute assigned studies and plan/lead smaller defined projects under supervision.
• Support laboratory instrument setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Perform phase-appropriate formulation and drug product process development.
• Characterize physicochemical and bioanalytical properties using advanced instrumentation.
• Analyze data, identify trends, and recommend next steps within project parameters.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners; communicate progress and results.
• Maintain laboratory notebooks, inventory, and instrument schedules; adhere to safety and Good Documentation Practices.
