Job summary

Merck & Co. is seeking an Associate Director, Engineering in Biologics External Manufacturing Technology. The role partners with External Partners and internal teams to ensure on-time, within-budget tech transfers and continuous improvement for vaccines and biologics programs.

Responsibilities include technical oversight, partner evaluation, and site readiness. A bachelor’s in engineering, science, or business and 8+ years in biologics manufacturing are required. Travel ~30% within the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Business required.
• 8+ years post-bachelor’s experience in Drug Substance/Product vaccines/biologics manufacturing or related operations.
• Experience leading technical transfers and cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving, leadership and communication skills.
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing and cross-functional collaboration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide a single point of technical contact to External Partners and sites.
• Oversee tech transfer delivery (on-time, within budget) with internal partners.
• Guide technical due diligence for External Partners and site readiness activities.
• Develop validation strategies for new and existing products.
• Lead risk identification and mitigation for partner programs.
• Support continuous process verification and performance monitoring.
