Fisheries Immersed Sciences Hawaii (FISH) is seeking a Biological Laboratory Technician to join the Juneau, AK lab, supporting NOAA NMFS AFSC IERP with biological sample processing. This full-time role requires working on-site at Auke Bay Laboratories and offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Salary Range: $45,000 – $65,000

FISH, in strategic partnership with Lynker Corporation as FLOAT, is seeking a motivated Biological Laboratory Technician to assist NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC), Integrated Ecosystem Research Program (IERP). This position will provide biological sample processing support to NOAA Fisheries’ ecosystem research programs.

Responsibilities

Laboratory Support

• Inventory biological samples
• Measure length and weight of organisms
• Remove otoliths, stomachs, and tissue samples
• Prepare samples for genetics, isotope, and energetic analyses
• Homogenize samples for laboratory processing
• Prepare samples for lipid and isotope analysis
• Record and enter laboratory data
• Follow established laboratory procedures

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or coursework) in marine biology or related field
• 0–3+ years of laboratory experience

Preferred Experience

• Experience processing fish or zooplankton samples
• Experience with biological dissections
• Experience organizing laboratory data

• Ability to perform repetitive laboratory tasks
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance
