Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; experience may substitute for education
• 0–1 year experience in applying bioinformatics to analyze, model, visualize sequencing data
• Broad knowledge of statistics, mathematics, algorithms, programming, and database theory/methods
• Molecular biology knowledge preferred
• Experience with UNIX/LINUX and high performance computing
• Experience in R or similar statistical languages; basic knowledge of Python or Perl
• Experience with statistical, spreadsheet, graphics and word-processing software

Responsibilities

• Consults on research projects under supervision of department director
• Collaborates with department personnel on research projects; performs data analysis, visualization, interpretation, and informatics resources
• Prepares summaries, presentations, manuscript sections, and figures for visualization and publication of complex data
• Develops databases for organized entry, storage, and retrieval of complex data
• Establishes schedules and monitors project status
• Trains department personnel in specialized and custom software packages and databases
• Provides recommendations for growth and improvement of computer hardware/software infrastructure
• Maintains department records, reports, and files
• Attends meetings and performs special projects as assigned
