Biodesix, Inc. is seeking a Bioinformatics Intern to work with our Clinical Development & Data Sciences teams in Louisville, CO. You'll analyze real-world biological and clinical data, develop pipelines, and gain hands-on bioinformatics experience.

You will learn from professionals across bioinformatics, laboratory, clinical, and technology teams, culminating in a final presentation of your findings.

LOCATION: On-Site in Louisville, CO

PROGRAM DATES: May 17 to August 6, 2027

TIME COMMITMENT: 40 hours per week

THE ROLE

As a Bioinformatics Intern, you'll work alongside our Clinical Development & Data Sciences team to explore real‑world biological and clinical data that supports advances in precision diagnostics. You'll gain hands‑on experience with bioinformatics, data analysis, and research while learning from professionals across bioinformatics, laboratory, clinical, and technology teams. Throughout the summer, you'll contribute to a meaningful research project, build technical and analytical skills, and share your work through data visualizations, reports, and a final presentation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Organize, clean, and curate large biological and clinical datasets.
• Perform exploratory data analysis and data quality assessments.
• Develop and maintain reproducible bioinformatics and data analysis workflows.
• Generate visualizations, summary statistics, and reports to support research objectives.
• Assist with data integration, annotation, and interpretation of molecular and clinical data.
• Document methods, results, and analytical procedures following established best practices.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Bioinformatics, Clinical Development, Laboratory Operations, and Information Technology.
• Present project progress and final findings to technical and business stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Biology, or a related field with an interest in bioinformatics.
• Course background in Biology, Genetics, Computer Programming, and Statistics.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Working knowledge of R, Python, Linux, and AWS (EC2 and S3).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with SQL or PostgreSQL, preferred.
• Exposure to a regulated laboratory or healthcare environment, preferred.
• Interest in oncology or cancer research, preferred.
• Previous experience working with biological, clinical, or research datasets, preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

COMPENSATION

Undergraduate Rate: $19.00 per hour
