Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Bioinformatics & Computational Single-Cell Genomics Expert to shape a large-scale benchmark project. You will design graduate-level problems that require real scientific workflows, run simulations, interpret results, and probe AI-model performance on complex data.

You will work with tools like Scanpy, scvelo, Squidpy, and Gudhi, apply Linux environments, and write Python code for problem setups, oracle functions, and validators.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level training in a relevant STEM field (MS or PhD preferred).
• Proven proficiency with at least one listed scientific software library (Scanpy, scvelo, Squidpy, Gudhi).
• Strong Python skills — writing problem setups, oracle functions, and validators.

Responsibilities

• Design original problems based on real scientific workflows for graduate-level difficulty.
• Run simulations, interpret results, and fine-tune problems to hit target difficulty.
• Test problems against state-of-the-art AI models and refine through a testing loop.
