Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking part-time research assistants to help with metabolic engineering of industrial hemp in the Central Pennsylvania Research and Teaching Laboratory for Biofuels (CPRTLB). Responsibilities include tissue culture work, sterile technique, molecular biology tasks, data collection and co-authorship of publications.

Work will involve assisting with cancer cell line work and engineering cannabinoid pathway genes in E.

Qualifications

• Experience with tissue culture and sterile technique.
• Basic knowledge of DNA, RNA and protein isolation methods.
• Ability to collect, analyze data and support publication efforts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue culture media, growth hormones and culture explants under sterile conditions.
• Assist with DNA, RNA and protein isolation.
• Maintain the laboratory and greenhouse with routine upkeep.
• Collect and analyze data and assist in publishing papers as a co-author.
• Assist with work on cancer cell lines and engineering cannabinoid pathway genes in E. coli.
• Support the PI and laboratory director with other duties as assigned.
