Cal Poly Humboldt invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry starting Fall 2027, with emphasis in Biochemistry. The appointee will also collaborate with the Health & Medical Sciences program as a student advisor.

The department serves 100+ majors and houses modern instrumentation; candidates should show potential for teaching excellence and active biochemistry research.

Qualifications

• Record of training or experience in Biochemistry
• Excellence in university-level teaching and creating a student-centered learning environment
• Evidence of conducting and publishing original research in Biochemistry
• Training or experience to teach general chemistry I and II
• Training or experience to teach biochemistry I, II and III, including gene regulation and expression
• Training or experience in laboratory-based instruction in biochemistry and chemistry
• Experience teaching large-enrollment courses
• Record of involving students in research and scholarly activity
• Demonstrated experience working with diverse student and/or research populations
• Knowledge addressing issues facing students from diverse backgrounds in higher education
• Experience collaborating with colleagues in academic, research, or professional settings

Responsibilities

• Teaching, research, scholarship, creative activity, and service to the University
• Advising students and participating in campus and system-wide communities
• Maintaining office hours and collaborating with colleagues
• Reducing teaching load during the first two years to establish research and scholarship activity
