Job summary

Carthage College’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of biochemistry starting August 2027. The successful candidate will teach biochemistry and general chemistry and serve as Program Coordinator, guiding curriculum development and advising biochemistry students.

We seek a teacher-scholar to establish an undergraduate research program with external funding and to contribute to the liberal arts campus.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Chemistry by August 2027.
• Commitment to innovative curriculum development in chemistry.
• Demonstrated record of or potential for undergraduate instruction.
• Demonstrated record of or potential for engagement of undergraduate students in scholarship.
• Enthusiasm for educating students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Teach biochemistry and general chemistry courses.
• Serve as Program Coordinator and guide curriculum development.
• Advise biochemistry students.
• Develop productive undergraduate research program and seek external funding.
