Job summary

BioLegend, part of Revvity, is seeking a Biochemist I/II - Conjugation to join our team in San Diego. You will help manufacture purified conjugated antibodies and support studies in precision medicine, oncology, immunology, and neuroscience.

You will follow SOPs, operate lab equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement while targeting high-quality products. 1–2 years in biotech manufacturing is preferred; ISO/GMP experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field; OR biotech certification; OR equivalent biotechnology industry experience.
• 1–2 years of work experience in a related biotech product development or manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manufacturing & Purification: Perform small and large-scale antibody conjugations with light-sensitive fluorophores and purification.
• Quality & Compliance: Follow SOPs, batch records, and compliance documentation to ensure quality standards.
• Process Improvement: Propose and participate in improvement projects to enhance efficiency.
• Lab Operations: Operate and maintain essential laboratory equipment.
• Laboratory Safety: Perform 5S maintenance and sustainment activities.
• Collaboration: Work with team members and cross-train on supporting tasks to ensure productivity.

Job Summary

As a Biochemist at BioLegend, you will be an integral member of a dynamic team manufacturing purified conjugated antibodies. Your work will directly support groundbreaking studies in precision medicine, oncology, immunology, and neuroscience. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of our finalized products by following established procedures, troubleshooting processes, and contributing to continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

• Manufacturing & Purification: Perform small and large-scale antibody conjugations with light-sensitive fluorophores and execute purification processes using various column chromatography techniques.
• Quality & Compliance: Meticulously follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), batch records, and other compliance documentation to ensure adherence to our quality and regulatory standards.
• Process Improvement: Take initiative to propose and participate in improvement projects, contribute to troubleshooting efforts, and help improve methodologies for greater efficiency.
• Lab Operations: Operate and maintain essential laboratory equipment.
• Contribute to laboratory safety and organization through 5S maintenance and sustainment activities.
• Collaboration: Work closely with team members to foster a productive and cohesive environment, participate in the daily visual management system (QDIPs), and cross-train on supporting tasks to ensure high productivity.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field; OR a Biotech certification; OR equivalent biotechnology industry working experience.
• 1-2 years of work experience in a related biotech product development or manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field with some experience in biotech manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with antibody conjugation.
• Experience operating UV monitors for chromatography.
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment under ISO or GMP standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and other computer-based software.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Lab: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $20.00 - $33.90/hour. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company.
