Job summary

Sanofi is seeking a Senior Scientist in Bioassay Development in Framingham, MA. You will lead analytical method development for potency assays, engineering cell lines and collaborating across biology, chemistry and quality teams.

You’ll mentor junior scientists, contribute to publications, and work in a GMP‑regulated environment as part of a dynamic, AI‑powered biopharma unit advancing immunoscience to patients.

Qualifications

• PhD in life sciences with at least 1 year of relevant research experience (academic work considered).
• Or a Master’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in mammalian cell culture and engineering cell lines or transgenic models.
• Extensive experience in at least two of qPCR, Western blotting, and plate-based assays (ELISA/fluorescence).
• Strong time management and excellent scientific communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, design, direct and execute analytical experiments to develop/qualify relative potency methods.
• Engineer novel cell lines to evaluate mechanisms of action.
• Support mAb and bi/tri-specific development and other modalities.
• Maintain good documentation in electronic lab notebook system.
• Maintain GMP compliance and assist SOP drafting and routine lab maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across science, quality and operations.
• Lead and contribute to high-profile presentations/publications.
• Mentor interns and junior scientists; foster collaborative environment.
• Collaborate with CROs/CDMOs for training and testing.

Main Responsibilities:

• Apply scientific expertise and judgement to initiate, design, direct and execute analytical experiments to develop and qualify relative potency methods for early and late-stage clinical molecules.
• Innovate and engineer novel cell lines with which to evaluate molecules’ mechanisms of action.
• Support mAb and bi/tri-specific development as well as other modalities such as viral and non-viral gene therapy.
• Maintain good documentation practices using the electronic lab notebook system.
• Maintain GMP compliance by following GMP procedures in the laboratory, by supporting routine maintenance activities in the department, and by training on drafting appropriate SOPs.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary and cross-functional teams, including biologists, chemists, quality, legal and other stakeholders.
• Lead and contribute to high-profile presentations and publications, ensuring effective communication of research findings and methodologies.
• Support the growth of the team by mentoring interns and junior scientists, sharing knowledge and fostering a collaborative research environment.
• Collaborate with CROs and CDMOs for training, outsourced activities, co‑validation or testing.

About you:

Basic Qualifications

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Immunology, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences or a related field with a minimum of 1 year of relevant research experience. Academic research, thesis work, co-ops, and/or internships will be considered.
• OR a Master’s degree in one of the above or related fields with at least 4 years of relevant experience. Academic research experience will be considered.
• Experience in mammalian cell culture and either engineering cell lines or transgenic model systems.
• Extensive experience in at least two of the following cell and molecular biology techniques: qPCR, Western blotting, and plate-based assays (e.g., ELISA, fluorescence-based assays).
• Strong time management skills to execute in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent organization and scientific communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SnapGene, Softmax, luminometer or relative potency statistical analyses
• Knowledge of a biologics’ standard analytical methods and controls

The salary range for this position is:

$100.500,00 - $145.166,66

All compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience.
