Job summary

Wander Staffing is seeking seven (7) Bio-Medical Equipment Technician (BMET) Training Instructors to support METC at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. This role blends classroom and hands-on instruction to teach BMET students how to install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate biomedical equipment.

Core responsibilities include delivering engaging instruction, updating materials, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a military BMET training course or equivalent civilian program, with at least three years of experience as a medical/dental equipment repair technician
  • Knowledge of installing, inspecting, maintaining, repairing, calibrating, and troubleshooting biomedical equipment
  • Instructor Training Course completed within the past five years, or ability to complete within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to onboard and certify METC instructors, including CFD-IC, CTC, MIO, supervised teaching
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, knowledge of adult learning and instructional methods

Responsibilities

  • Teach BMET students through classroom and hands-on instruction on biomedical equipment installation, inspection, maintenance, repair, calibration and troubleshooting
  • Train students on safe equipment use, basic operating and physiological principles, tools and manuals
  • Review and update course materials and exams; set clear learning expectations; use diverse teaching approaches
  • Maintain attendance and records; administer exams and provide tutoring when needed
  • Provide course feedback and participate in required training and meetings; follow regulatory requirements

Wander Staffing is seeking seven (7) Bio-Medical Equipment Technician (BMET) Training Instructors to support the Medical Education & Training Campus (METC) at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. This role combines classroom and hands‑on instruction, helping BMET students learn how to install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate biomedical equipment.

COMPENSATION
  • Rate: $50.02/hr
  • W2 Position
  • Medical benefits available
SCHEDULE
  • Core Hours: 0700-1700, Monday-Friday
  • Staggered arrival (0700-0800) / departure (1600-1700) windows
CONTRACT DETAILS
  • 30 September 2026 - 29 September 2027
  • Monday through Friday; no work required on recognized federal holidays
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduate of a military BMET training course or equivalent civilian program, with at least three (3) years of experience as a medical/dental equipment repair technician
  • Knowledge of installing, inspecting, maintaining, repairing, calibrating, and troubleshooting biomedical equipment, including the tools, manuals, and safety principles used in the work
  • Instructor Training Course (ITC) completed within the past five (5) years, or ability to complete it within 30 days of hire or when the next training seat is available
  • Ability to complete required METC instructor onboarding and certification, including CFD-IC, CTC, MIO, supervised teaching, and evaluations
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, knowledge of adult learning and instructional methods, and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • DoD/former DoD BMET experience in an MTF or MERC, especially with instructor experience, is highly desirable
DUTIES
  • Teach BMET students through classroom and hands‑on instruction covering the installation, inspection, maintenance, repair, calibration, and troubleshooting of biomedical equipment
  • Train students on safe equipment use, basic operating and physiological principles, hand and power tools, measuring devices, soldering, technical manuals, and preventive maintenance
  • Review and update course materials and exams, set clear learning expectations, and use different teaching approaches to support student learning
  • Maintain attendance and academic records, administer and review exams, and provide tutoring or remedial instruction when students need additional support
  • Provide course feedback, participate in required training and meetings, and follow applicable institutional, accreditation, and regulatory requirements
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Prolonged standing during lectures, hands‑on instruction, and equipment demonstrations
  • 100% indoor work in classroom and clinical/technical lab settings
