Job summary

Walsworth is seeking a Bindery - Operator I to set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain Monarch-equipped bindery equipment. The role includes leading crew members and coordinating with maintenance to meet production schedules.

Strong reading comprehension and communication skills are essential for smooth shift transitions. Minimum 6 months in a bindery role and 1 year in Bindery-Operator I or equivalent are required; Muller Martini experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months in a Bindery role.
  • Minimum 1 year of Bindery - Operator II experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, run, and maintain assigned bindery machinery.
  • Lead and coach crew on the line to ensure productivity and quality.
  • Troubleshoot equipment per company procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Read and follow written work instructions and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly with shift personnel to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Maintain accurate production counts and quality records.
  • Coordinate timely repairs with maintenance and supervisors.
  • Follow safety procedures and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Train new Bindery Operators and assist crew as needed.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and output.

Job Summary:As a Bindery - Operator I you are responsible for the set up, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of applicable equipment. The equipment operated includes but is not limited to: Perfect Binders. This position works 4 days a week 3pm to 1am and on Fridays if needed 1pm to 9pm.Required Systems/Applications:MonarchEssential Functions:Set up, run, and maintain assigned machinery.Lead and coach crew members.Troubleshoot assigned machinery according to company procedures and practices to assure efficiency and quality to meet the required production schedule.Read and understand the written information pertaining to the job.Strive to meet or exceed departmental and company goals.Interpret and apply department policies, procedures and job instructions accurately.Communicate effectively with incoming shift personnel to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.Maintain accurate counts.Coordinate with supervisors/maintenance on timely repair of equipmentFollow all safety procedures as set forth by Walsworth.Perform preventative maintenance.Train new Bindery Operators and crew.Monitor production and quality to make recommendations on process improvements.All other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work and lead in a team environment.Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.Ability to troubleshoot.Ability to work overtime beyond the standard 40-hour workweek depending on production requirements.Ability to be flexible, dependable, and have a strong work ethic is essential.Working Conditions/Physical Demands:Required to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or use controls, tools or equipment.May require the ability to use a keyboard and other office equipment.May require specific vision abilities that include close vision.May be required to perform concentrated work for extended periods of time.May be required to lift, carry or exert items or objects of reasonable weight.May be required to perform duties beyond standard business hours.Minimum Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent.Minimum 6 months of working in a Bindery role.Minimum of 1 year of Bindery - Operator II experience or previous Bindery – Operator I or equivalent experienceMuller Martini experience preferred.
