Bindery Operator 3 (Bobst- Folder Gluer Operator)

Responsibilities:

1. Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of auxiliary binding machines.
2. Inspect equipment for safety issues.
3. Operate automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) that contain numerous interrelated process stations, feeding collated sheets or signatures and performing functions such as vibrating, milling, roughening, gluing, covering, and stacking completed books, magazines, or catalogs.
4. Make adjustments to coordinate the multiple work stations on a single machine.
5. Direct crew through all aspects of production.
6. Monitor quality, output, and productivity.
7. Maintain thorough knowledge of setup, adjustment, procedures, capabilities, and limitations of equipment to perform standard and specialized binding, folding, collating, and cutting of printed materials.
8. Understand the machinability of different paper weights, sizes, and types to identify paper conditions requiring additional adjustments.
9. Use standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain bindery machines.
10. Operate complex bindery equipment such as folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and binding/gluing machines.
11. Read and interpret work instructions to ensure correct sequence and dimensional accuracy of operations.

The salary range for this role at the specified RRD location is $24.00 - $35.00 per hour. Starting pay is based on education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Compensation may include overtime, shift differentials, call-in, and standby pay.
