Job summary

RoyalAire is seeking a BIM/VDC Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute VDC/BIM activities across projects, developing accurate, constructible mechanical models to support estimating, management, fabrication, and field installation.

You will serve as a liaison among engineering, project management, fabrication, and field teams, drive BIM workflows, maintain model quality, and support successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
• Three to five years of experience in BIM, VDC, MEP coordination, or a related role.
• Experience in mechanical construction, HVAC, or plumbing is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain BIM models for HVAC and mechanical systems across assigned projects.
• Perform clash detection, model audits, and quality reviews using Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Prepare coordinated drawings, shop drawings, spools, and layout maps to support fabrication and installation.
• Ensure models comply with company BIM standards and project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
• Support early design and constructability reviews through model-based analysis and recommendations.
• Conduct routine audits to verify model accuracy, completeness, and alignment with field installation requirements.

Job description

The BIM/VDC Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) activities across RoyalAire projects. This position ensures the development of accurate, constructible, and fully coordinated mechanical models that support estimating, project management, fabrication, and field installation.

The BIM/VDC Project Manager serves as a key liaison between engineering, project management, fabrication, and field teams while driving BIM workflows, maintaining model quality, and supporting successful project delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

BIM/VDC Coordination and Model Management

• Develop, update, and maintain BIM models for HVAC and mechanical systems across assigned projects.
• Perform clash detection, model audits, and quality reviews using Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Prepare coordinated drawings, shop drawings, spools, and layout maps to support fabrication and installation.
• Ensure models comply with company BIM standards and project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
• Support early design and constructability reviews through model-based analysis and recommendations.
• Conduct routine audits to verify model accuracy, completeness, and alignment with field installation requirements.

Project Support and Collaboration

• Serve as the primary VDC liaison for projects.
• Facilitate effective communication among project managers, foremen, engineers, fabrication teams, and field personnel.
• Attend and contribute to virtual and onsite coordination meetings.
• Review model progress, identify conflicts, and support timely resolution of coordination issues.
• Collaborate with field leadership to ensure models reflect installation requirements and actual site conditions.
• Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and other trades when model information affects scheduling or installation.

Technical Execution and Documentation

• Generate equipment layouts, hanger placement plans, quantity takeoffs, and model-based asset documentation.
• Assist with version control, file management, and maintaining an organized modeling environment.
• Support labor tracking, prefabrication planning, and site verification using digital workflow tools.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and mechanical design documents.
• Provide model-based information to support estimating, fabrication, scheduling, and field installation.

Process Improvement and Standards

• Provide feedback on BIM standards, procedures, and workflows.
• Identify opportunities to improve project delivery through enhanced model utilization and digital tools.
• Support the implementation of new technologies, including laser scanning, augmented reality, virtual reality, and digital layout systems.
• Promote consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across BIM/VDC project workflows.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction sequencing, and field installation practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and mechanical design documents.
• Ability to identify constructability concerns and recommend practical solutions.

Education and Experience

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Primarily office-based, with extended periods working at a computer.

• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to follow all applicable safety requirements while visiting construction sites.
