Job description

BIM Project Leader

WSP is currently initiating a search for a BIM Project Leader with the potential to work out of any WSP office with a Federal Programs presence, including Arlington, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; Tacoma, WA; San Diego, CA; Denver, CO; New York, NY; or Pittsburgh, PA. The candidate will provide high‑level BIM and CADD system support and guidance for Federal Property and Buildings projects.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate BIM implementation and drafting work product, collaborating with architects, engineers and project managers to produce precise project drawings and models for moderate to large‑scale projects.
  • Oversee quality control standards for accurate BIM documentation, analysis and representation of existing conditions or new facility design.
  • Scope small to large projects and develop BIM execution plans in partnership with the project manager.
  • Develop and enforce standard BIM and CADD practices to meet design standards, codes and client requirements.
  • Assist with development and scoping of a wide range of project types and sizes.
  • Monitor cross‑functional teams on BIM deliverables, including staff training, clash detection and other deliverables required by Federal clients.
  • Ensure compliance with project‑specific procedures, data collection, database maintenance and digital library management.
  • Apply analytical techniques and software to solve large‑scale engineering issues and modify designs in line with project standards.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, clients, communities, subcontractors and technical staff professionally.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design professionals to mitigate risks and provide future‑ready solutions.
  • Stay current with latest BIM support practices, methods and techniques.
  • Exercise responsible decision‑making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of relevant post‑education experience in the discipline with prior BIM experience.
  • Experience with both public and private sector work, including Federal, state, city, county, utility districts and private land development.
  • Experience supporting project managers in reviewing scopes of work and pre‑project planning.
  • Advanced proficiency with drafting and design support principles and Autodesk tools such as Revit, Forma.
  • Advanced proficiency with relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Proficiency coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies and technical staff.
  • Analytical mindset and sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Strong self‑leadership, interpersonal communication, and ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Well‑developed critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance to junior team members with strict QA/QC adherence.
  • Track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Flexible to work schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek.
  • Potential for up to 25% travel, including overnight stays and CONUS/OCONUS travel, based on project requirements.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Architect licensure.
  • Previous experience delivering Design‑Build projects.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $102,200 – $182,200.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $102,200 – $171,100.
