Job summary

WSP in the U.S. is seeking a BIM Project Leader to spearhead BIM implementation across multiple site projects. The successful candidate will work with architects and engineers to deliver high-quality BIM documentation and design drawings for federal programs.

Job description

Opportunity

BIM Project Leader – Federal Programs, WSP. Responsibilities include leading BIM implementation on multi‑site, moderate to large‑scale design projects across the United States (Arlington, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; Tacoma, WA; San Diego, CA; Denver, CO; New York, NY; Pittsburgh, PA). Work with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure high‑quality BIM documentation and design drawings for federal property and building teams.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate BIM implementation and drafting (CADD) work product, ensuring precision on projects of moderate to large scale and complexity.
  • Oversee quality‑control standards and procedures for accurate BIM documentation, analysis, and portrayal of existing conditions or new facility design.
  • Scope projects, formulate BIM execution plans, and collaborate with project managers to develop scalable solutions.
  • Develop and enforce standard BIM and CADD practices, ensuring design accommodation of geometric dimensioning, tolerance, and quantity calculations.
  • Assist in developing and scoping large ranges of project types and sizes.
  • Monitor cross‑functional teams in executing BIM‑related project design work, including staff training, clash detection, and BIM deliverables required by federal clients.
  • Maintain data collection, database, and digital library of model families, drafting documents, and design support files in required file types.
  • Apply analytical techniques and software to solve complex engineering issues and modify designs per project standards.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, clients, subcontractors, and technical staff professionally and confidently.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design professionals to mitigate risks and provide forward‑ready solutions for clients.
  • Stay current with latest BIM support practices, methods, and techniques.
  • Exercise responsible decision‑making, adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct, and perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 7+ years of post‑education experience in a relevant discipline with proven BIM experience.
  • Experience with public and private sector projects, including federal, state, city, county, and utility districts.
  • Experience supporting project managers in scope reviews and pre‑project planning.
  • Advanced proficiency with drafting and design support tools, especially Autodesk Revit and similar software.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
  • Strong coordination skills with clients, regulatory agencies, and technical staff.
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgement and effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Leadership and interpersonal communication skills to guide junior team members and maintain QA/QC standards.
  • Proficiency in technical writing, office automation, and spreadsheet tools.
  • Critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills for data analysis and solution identification.
  • Ability to work independently, provide guidance, and adhere to safety and health policies.
  • Flexibility for project schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Up to 25% travel (overnight and potential CONUS/OCONUS).
  • Relocation assistance is not available.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Architect licensure preferred.
  • Experience delivering Design‑Build projects.

Expected salary range: $102,200 – $182,200 (all locations). Colorado range: $102,200 – $171,100.
