Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti in Los Angeles is seeking a skilled BIM specialist to produce 3D models, annotate 2D drawings, and manage BIM workflows across multi-discipline projects. You will coordinate with engineers and clients to ensure accurate model exchanges and high-quality deliverables.

The role requires strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, Tekla, and Navisworks, plus the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D models consistent with instruction, industry guidelines, and TT standards and practices.
• Annotate, dimension, and detail 2D production drawings in conformance to TT standards and practices.
• Manage the BIM workflow including folder organization, sheet sets, geo-location, plots, conversions, and transmittals.
• Maintain structural BIM / CAD files for use in structural design drawings, including clean-up, audit, reference, and troubleshooting.
• Interface with engineers and clients to coordinate BIM modeling content and approaches, model exchanges, quality control, and delivery.
• Use tools such as Navisworks for project collaboration across multiple disciplines.
• Prepare and review project deliverables for client submissions.
• Create 3D views or renderings as needed for marketing or project use.

• Working knowledge of drawing production, standard construction techniques, and principles.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, Tekla, and data exchanges between BIM platforms is preferred.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
