Job summary

Blackbird Health is seeking a Billing Specialist to join our growing Revenue Cycle Management team. You will manage insurance A/R, resolve denials, post payments and refunds, verify eligibility, and work closely with clinicians to ensure a smooth billing experience for families.

The role requires 2–4 years in healthcare billing with insurance, plus 1–3 years in customer service, and knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding. We value collaboration and patient advocacy in a fast-paced pediatric setting.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of healthcare billing experience with insurance companies.
• 1-3 years of customer service experience.
• In-depth knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding and insurance terminology.
• Prior billing experience in a behavioral health or pediatric healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage insurance Accounts Receivable (A/R) and resolve denied claims.
• Post payments, process refunds, and verify patient eligibility.
• Collaborate with clinicians and internal teams on billing issues.
• Contact patients/families via phone, email to update insurance or payments.
• Support payment plans and ensure patient responsibility is accurately reflected on invoices.
