Caris Healthcare, LP in Knoxville, TN is seeking a part-time Billing Specialist to generate and bill clean claims and follow up on payments. This role requires in-office work at our corporate office.

You will manage patient billing files, meet deadlines, and support Medicare/other payer processes while benefiting from flexible scheduling and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in patient billing and claims processing.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Proficiency with office software including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains patient billing files.
• Participates in quality program (IOP).
• Reviews and edits claims before billing for accuracy.
• Meets all billing and accounts receivable deadlines.
• Prepares and distributes unsubmitted billing lists weekly.
• Reviews remittance advices for adjustments; attach docs as needed.
• Follow-ups by phone with payers for open dates of service.
• Documents all accounts receivable follow-up in the patient file.
• Prepares and bills Medicare Secondary Payer claims via direct data entry.
• Reviews/edits claims in online system for daily processing.
• Quarterly credit balance reports to Fiscal Intermediary Medicare.
• Handles referrals processing when needed.
• Maintains monthly unbilled status at branch locations.
• Posts payments by checks, credit cards, EFT to accounts.

Pay: $18.50 / hr. - $21.00 /hr Depending on experience

The Billing Specialist is responsible to generate and bill clean claims, as well as, for follow-up of timely and accurate payments of patient accounts.This is not a remote position, must be available to work out of our corporate office in Knoxville, TN.

Responsibilities

• 1. Prepares and maintains patient billing files.
• 2. Participates in the quality program (IOP).
• 3. Reviews and edits claims prior to billing to ensure accurate and clean claim submission.
• 4. Meets all billing and accounts receivable deadlines.
• 5. Prepares and distributes unsubmitted billing list to appropriate personnel weekly.
• 6. Reviews all remittance advices for contractual adjustments, withholds and bad debt. Attaches documentation for justification, as needed.
• 7. Follows-up by phone call to payers on open dates of service for payments, denials and resubmission of claims, if necessary.
• 8. Documents all accounts receivable follow-up and maintains in patient billing file.
• 9. Prepares and bills Medicare Secondary Payer claims through the Fiscal Intermediaries direct data entry program.
• 10. Reviews and edits claims in claims correction section of on-line system to ensure on-going processing for payment via direct data entry, daily.
• 11. On a quarterly basis and upon signature by the Director of Operations/Reimbursement, prepares and sends to Fiscal Intermediary Medicare, credit balance reports for each office.
• 12. Responsible for taking and processing of referrals, when needed.
• 13. Maintains branch locations monthly unbilled if assigned.
• 14. Payment Processing: Accurately post checks, credit cards, electronic funds transfers (EFT) to patient accounts.

Qualifications

• Payment posting experience, preferred.
• High school graduate or the equivalent preferred.
• Must be experienced with PC's and be familiar with common office software, such as Microsoft office and spreadsheets, etc.
• Must be well organized and detail-oriented.
• Must be able to communicate articulately and comprehend written and verbal communications.
