Job summary

Covenant Logistics is seeking a detail‑oriented Billing Specialist in Chattanooga, TN to prepare and process invoices with accuracy and timeliness. You'll handle electronic delivery, maintain account notes, and support audits while meeting weekly billed loads targets.

The role requires 5+ years in billing, familiarity with AS400/TMW systems, and strong MS Office skills, plus the ability to work under pressure in a team setting.

• Some college coursework is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and print invoices; send electronically via email/EDI.
• Verify numbers against BOLS and ensure accuracy.
• Audit billing information from TMW to drivers’ paperwork.
• Support Billing Manager with audit requests.
• Cross-train with other Billing Specialists.

Job description

Responsible for preparing invoices accurately and timely for our customers. The specialist must be accurate and reliable in handling accounts and documents, have a high degree of organizational ability, and a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Employs the program that prepares bills automatically once the load has been entered, calculated, and input automatically into the Company's account records by Customer Service.
• Keep account notes updated as dedicated accounts change.
• Required to closely check that the numbers match up to those on the BOLS.
• Prints and prepares invoices, sends invoices electronically via email/EDI, handling billing questions from customers, and updating information pertinent to each customer (i.e., if they require certain numbers for processing, rates, and fuel rates, etc.)
• Keeps an ongoing spreadsheet of loads billed weekly versus errors occurring within the week.
• Meets established number of bills and invoiced loads per week.
• Ensures all lumpers and unloads are invoiced.
• Keeps customer base and workflow current
• Audits billing information from TMW to drivers’ paperwork in EBE
• Will support Billing Manager with Audit Requests
• Cross train with other Billing Specialists

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in billing preferred.
• AS400 experience preferred.
• TMW experience preferred.
• Transportation industry experience preferred.
• Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Must be able to get along with others and work in a team environment.

Education/Experience

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required, some college a plus.
• 5+ years of billing experience required.
• 1-2 years of transportation experience

The posted range reflects the full pay band for the position. The expected pay range below represents where most candidates are hired, based on experience, skills, and internal equity. Candidates with more extensive or highly relevant experience may be considered toward the higher end of the overall pay band.

• Expected Pay Range: $17.00-$19.33
• Full Pay Range: $17.00-$26.67
• Pay Grade: 5
