Role Description

The Billing Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Milwaukee, WI. This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end billing process, including preparing and issuing invoices, verifying client and payer information, and ensuring accurate posting of payments. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating client billing with clinical and administrative staff, reconciling accounts, resolving billing discrepancies, and maintaining up-to-date records in billing and accounting systems. The Billing Specialist will communicate regularly with clients, insurers, and internal teams to address questions, clarify charges, and support timely reimbursement. This role also contributes to process improvements, compliance with relevant regulations, and reporting to organizational leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong billing process and client billing skills, with experience managing end-to-end billing workflows.
• Proficiency in invoicing and basic accounting practices, including payment posting and account reconciliation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, insurers, and internal teams.
• Ability to work with billing software or practice management systems; strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Relevant experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or nonprofit settings is preferred.
• Associate’s degree or coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, uphold ethical standards, and work collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
