Job summary

Tri-City Orthopaedic Clinic, P.S.C. is seeking a billing specialist to join our busy orthopaedic practice in Washington.

The role is full-time, non-exempt, and requires reviewing benefits, processing quotes for co-pays, and submitting charges to payors. The ideal candidate has strong organizational and communication skills and can manage aged receivables while maintaining confidentiality across medical and financial data.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of correct collection practices.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and managed care contracts.
• Skilled in organization and accuracy.
• Skilled in verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of Tri-City Orthopaedic Clinic
• Review patient benefits and process quotes for patient co-pays
• Review patient charges and submit to appropriate payor for billing
• Manage aged receivables (A/R) and refunds (credit)
• Maintain and maintain reports required for position (ie. A/R, refunds, missing visits, etc.)
• Answer billing department phone calls timely and in a professional manner
• Take patient payments over the phone and process them appropriately
• Follow through to completion on all patient and insurance questions and problems
• Report any insurance changes and requirements to manager
• Help to ensure that up to date carrier information is maintained in various systems
• Attend billing department and staff meetings as assigned
• Communicate needs and updates to office staff to ensure appropriate reimbursement
• Maintain confidentiality standards for both medical and financial information
• Other duties as assigned

Summary:

The clinic billing specialist is a non-exempt, full-time position responsible for processing, verifying, and managing all billable services and processes.

Requirements

Education, Licens es and Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma or equiv alent
• One (1) year medical billing experience or equivalent education that would provide the candidate with the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.
• Knowledge of correct collection practices

• Skilled in organization and accuracy

• Ability to articulate answers to patient questions clearly
