Job summary

Cascade Community Healthcare is seeking a Billing Specialist in Centralia, WA, to handle claims submission, posting payments, and AR management. This non-exempt role is a 40-hour workweek with a hourly pay scale and DOE.

Responsibilities include verifying eligibility, collaborating with IT for coding changes, and ensuring accurate invoicing and timely collections. The position requires one year of billing experience and solid MS Office and AR software skills.

Qualifications

  • One year billing experience required.
  • Billing experience in mental health/behavioral healthcare preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party procedures required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, and the public.
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented and able to meet firm deadlines.
  • Experience with accounts receivable software and collection of accounts receivable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and submits clean claims to payers by electronic submission, direct entry, or paper.
  • Verify payer eligibility and maintain current benefit summaries for all clients.
  • Collaborate with IS Department on service codes, edits, and required documents.
  • Post claim and contract payments.
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and submitting contract billing.
  • Manage account statuses, balances, and identify inconsistencies.
  • Correct and resubmit claims to payers.
  • Monitor delinquent accounts and report status.
  • Discuss client financial status and develop payment plans when needed.
  • Review SFDP applications for eligibility and update forms per guidelines.
  • Assist in managing AR aging totals.
  • Update billing products and forms within EHR systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT CASCADE:

Cascade Community Healthcare (CCH) has been providing treatment services to Lewis County and surrounding areas for more than 50 years. Our mission is to provide our clients with compassionate and encouraging counseling leading to a renewed sense of hope and the ability to make positive changes and live more satisfying lives. Cascade currently has six treatment locations in Lewis County.

We are looking for a Billing Specialist to join our team! The Billing Specialist is responsible for the submission of claims and posting of claim payments for the organization. This role also serves as auditor, ensuring that claims/invoices are accurate and that payments are being received.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE:

This position will normally require that the employee work a standard, Monday through Friday forty (40) hour week. This position is classified as being "non-exempt" according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.

PAY SCALE:

$21.00 - $25.00 Hourly. DOE.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE:
  • One year experience in billing required, billing experience in the mental health or behavioral healthcare field preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, and the public.
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to meet firm deadlines.
  • Experience in accounts receivable software and collection of accounts receivable.
  • Must be able to pass WA State Patrol background checks. A national background check may be required if have not lived in WA state consecutively the last three years.
  • Must be able to represent the agency in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to enter information into a computer network system.
  • Must comply with agency policies and procedures.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must maintain current contact information and address on file with the human resources office.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Prepares and submits clean claims to various payers either by electronic submission, direct entry, or by paper.
  • Verify payer eligibility and maintain current benefit summaries for all clients.
  • Work with IS Department in relation to service codes, edits, fees, and required documents.
  • Posts claim/contract payments.
  • Assists in preparing, reviewing, and submits contract billing.
  • Manage the status of accounts and balances and identify inconsistencies.
  • Correcting and resubmitting claims to payers.
  • Follow and reports status of delinquent accounts.
  • Evaluates client’s financial status and works with clients to develop payment plan as necessary.
  • Review Sliding Fee Discount Program (SFDP) applications and determine eligibility. Update SFDP forms yearly based on Federal Poverty Level guidelines, maintain client log, enter SFDP financials, and generate SFDP correspondence.
  • Assist in managing AR aging totals.
  • Update and maintain billing products and forms within EHR system(s).
  • Other duties as assigned.
