Job summary

SimonMed Imaging is seeking a Billing Rep – Level 1 to assist in processing patient accounts and insurance claims. You will work under the Billing Manager, addressing billing inquiries and ensuring accurate demographic information for insurance and patients.

The role requires 2+ years in a related field, HIPAA knowledge, and proficiency in Word/Excel, with strong communication and telephone etiquette. Medical billing knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in related field.
• Must have knowledge of HIPAA guidelines.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of Medical Billing is a plus.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public.
• Must be proficient in telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

• Research systems to provide updated demographic information for insurance and patient billing.
• Review accounts in billing system to verify claim handling was appropriate, research patient inquiries.
• Provide information to manager regarding the handling of the patient's account.
• Launch case investigations with billing service to instruct on proper account handling (appeals to be filed with insurance, etc.).
• Demonstrates competency in the performance of job-related skills while providing excellent customer service.
• Adheres to policies, procedures, guidelines relative to departmental operations.

As a Billing Rep – Level 1, you will be under the direct supervision of the Billing Manager. This position will work closely with the Manager to evaluate and rectify billing issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Research systems to provide updated demographic information for insurance and patient billing.
• Review accounts in billing system to verify claim handling was appropriate, research patient inquiries.
• Provide information to manager regarding the handling of the patient's account.
• Launch case investigations with billing service to instruct on proper account handling (i.e., appeals to be filed with insurance, claims handled incorrectly, etc.).
• Demonstrates competency in the performance of job-related skills appropriate to his/her customer populations and departmental services while providing excellent customer service.
• Utilizes and operates equipment and mechanical devices which provide for a functional, effective, and safe environment.
• Adheres to policies, procedures, guidelines relative to departmental operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Experience:

• Two or more years of experience in related field
• Must have knowledge of HIPAA guidelines
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge of Medical Billing is a plus
• Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers
• Must be proficient in telephone etiquette

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time, with frequent standing and walking.
