What you can expect from this role:

The Billing/Recovery Specialist is responsible for supporting Revenue Cycle functions, including Billing, Reimbursement, and Insurance Recovery. The role ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and government regulations.

  • Prepares and submits claims to insurance companies electronically or by paper.
  • Verifies the completeness and accuracy of claims prior to submission and obtains missing information.
  • Responds to questions from patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies.
  • Identifies and resolves billing complaints.
  • Follows up on insurance claim denials, rejections, and exclusions.
  • Researches missing registration and insurance information as needed.
  • Prepares correspondence, denials, and resolutions as directed.
  • Understands insurance plan coverages, authorizations, and limits.
  • Researches, trends, and resolves claim rejections and denials.
  • Collects and resolves delayed payments from insurance companies.
  • Coordinates with departments and insurance companies to correct errors.
  • Analyzes denied reimbursement claims.
  • Performs routine assignments under limited supervision, following policies and procedures.
  • Resolves limited complexity problems and refers complex issues to higher levels.
  • Serves as a resource to others in problem resolution.
  • Audits and proofs claim reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assists in special projects as needed.
  • Performs duties requiring independent judgment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
