Job summary

Runway Search, LLC is seeking a hands-on Billing Manager to own billing operations for its growing software business in San Francisco. You will manage account setup and invoicing for enterprise and channel customers, resolve complex billing issues, and drive improvements in systems and processes.

The role requires 6-8+ years of billing or order-to-cash experience, hands-on usage-based billing, contract interpretation, and cross-functional collaboration with sales, accounting, and tax teams.

Qualifications

• 6-8+ years of billing or order to cash experience.
• Hands-on experience with usage-based or consumption-based billing is required.
• Ability to interpret negotiated agreements and configure the corresponding billing rules.
• Experience troubleshooting across ERP, CRM, billing, and tax platforms.
• Understanding of receivables, deferred revenue, and ASC 606.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Strong follow-through, careful attention to numbers, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Comfortable working directly with customers and partnering with sales, accounting, and other internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Configure charges for subscriptions and consumption, including volume discounts, advance payments, account changes, and contract adjustments.
• Investigate incorrect charges and customer questions, arrange invoice corrections, and prevent repeat problems.
• Monitor data flowing between sales, billing, and financial systems; resolve errors that affect invoice accuracy.
• Verify billed amounts against contractual terms and usage records, maintaining supporting schedules for accounting close and audits.
• Support renewals and expansions by reviewing customer activity and calculating necessary credits or adjustments.
• Strengthen billing controls and reduce manual work as customer volume and contract complexity increase.
