Job summary

Heart and Vascular Care is seeking a Medical Billing Generalist to join our team. Hybrid/Remote work is available after training. Hours are Monday–Friday, 8–5, with no nights, weekends, or major holidays. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, 401k, PTO, and holiday pay.

The role emphasizes handling billing inquiries, reviewing claims, and guiding patients through billing questions with accuracy and empathy. Strong MS Excel skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Billing Specialist or similar role.
• Comfortable handling numbers and financial information.
• Strong MS Excel and general MS Office proficiency.
• Attention to detail with professional phone skills.
• Knowledge of billing regulations and data privacy basics.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage Billing Phone Queue (Inbound & Outbound) and patient questions.
• Coordinate between staff and patients for billing needs.
• Review claims and payment history for patients.
• Explain account statuses, balances, credits, and inconsistencies.
• Inform patients about outstanding debts and responsibility estimates.
• Collaborate on payment plans with the team.

Responsibilities

• Manage Billing Phone Queue (Inbound & Outbound), answer patient questions and resolve patient concerns
• Manage correspondence between staff members and patients to provide solutions for billing questions, concerns, and/or needs
• Review, research, and advise claims and payment history for patients
• Independently comprehend, to provide explanation, status of accounts to include but not limited to balances, credits, and identifying inconsistencies
• Review and ensure patients are informed on their outstanding debts and estimates of patient responsibility prior to appointments
• Provide solutions to any relative problems of patients
• Collaborate with team members in assisting with payment plans for patients

Requirements

• Proven experience as Billing Specialist
• Adherence to laws and best practices in regards to dealing with customers and data
• Comfortable dealing with numbers and the processing of financial information
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel)
• Results-driven and patient
• High degree of attention to detail
