Job summary

Schlaupitz Madhavan, P.C. (SMCPA) in Troy, MI, seeks an experienced Accounting Analyst to support billing, collections, and accounting operations at our Troy office. You will manage client billing, AR collections, WIP analysis, and contribute to monthly financial reporting.

The role reports to the Director of Operations and collaborates with engagement teams to ensure accurate data and timely revenue realization, month-end close, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in accounting, finance, billing, accounts receivable, or related field with significant billing/collections/WIP experience.
• Strong accounting experience: reconciliations, journal entries, account analysis, month-end close.
• Experience with QuickBooks or accounting/practice management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage client billing lifecycle: WIP analysis, draft invoices, billing adjustments, finance charges, and client-specific billing requirements.
• Monitor accounts receivable and collections; follow up on past-due accounts and manage client holds.
• Analyze WIP and collaborate with engagement teams to identify billing opportunities and improve revenue realization.
• Maintain accurate client and billing information: billing groups, positions, instructions, and employee bill/cost rates.
• Prepare monthly accounts receivable, WIP aging, realization, production, and other reports.
• Support month-end close: reconciliations, adjusting entries, workpapers.
• Manage accounts payable: 1099 preparation and issuance.
• Assist with cash receipts, deposits, reconciliations, and other accounting activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve billing/collections/accounting processes and assist with special projects.
