Job summary

Noble Community Clinics is seeking a detail-oriented Billing & Coding Specialist to join our team in Manitowoc, WI. This role supports accurate coding, timely billing, claim resolution, and compliant reimbursement while ensuring payer requirements are met.

You will review claims, follow up on denials, educate providers and staff on coding changes, conduct audits, and help manage patient accounts and payment plans. Strong attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Six months to one year of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination.
• Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding, reimbursement methodologies.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding principles and guidelines.
• Understanding of healthcare reimbursement practices and payer requirements.
• Familiarity with Medicare, HMOs, PPOs, and other payers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHR systems.
• CPC or CCS-P certification preferred.
• FQHC billing and coding experience preferred.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Review claims to ensure codes meet payer requirements and guidelines.
• Research denials and identify opportunities for resolution.
• Follow up on submitted/rejected claims and investigate discrepancies.
• Identify incomplete or incorrect coding and obtain clarifications.
• Educate providers and staff on coding changes and issues.
• Conduct annual coding audits and support documentation practices.
• Collect, post, and manage patient payments; respond to billing questions.
• Establish payment plans and assist patients with balances.
• Support revenue cycle activities and collaborate with teams to resolve issues.
