Job summary

CarePoint Response, Inc. is seeking a Billing Specialist in Baltimore, MD to support financial operations through billing, authorizations, and AR.

You will process authorizations in the EHR, monitor status and compliance, and collaborate with payers to ensure timely reimbursement. Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in healthcare billing, with a solid understanding of Medicaid/ASO workflows and strong attention to detail in audits and reporting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• 2–4 years in healthcare billing, medical claims processing, or AR a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process, obtain, verify, extend, and maintain service authorizations in the EHR for behavioral health services.
• Monitor authorization status, utilization limits, expiration dates, and documentation requirements.
• Complete billing and authorization activities for inpatient residential crisis care services.
• Process billing and authorization for mobile crisis services, verify payer eligibility, and follow up on denials.
• Serve as liaison with ASOs, Medicaid managed care, and other payers to resolve authorization discrepancies.
• Conduct audits of authorizations, billing records, and EHR documentation for compliance.
• Collaborate with clinical, program, and quality management staff to obtain required documentation.
• Research, document, and resolve authorization-related compliance issues and communicate corrective actions.
• Track authorization trends, denied authorizations, and reimbursement variances.
• Maintain detailed records of authorization requests, approvals, denials, appeals, and payer communications.
• Assist with authorization appeals and reconsiderations.
