Job summary

Derick Dermatology PLLC seeks a Billing and Coding Associate for a remote, full-time position limited to Illinois or Florida residents. Responsibilities include posting payments, coding medical claims, and managing inbound/outbound calls related to insurance and patient questions.

You will verify insurance coverage, handle aged receivables, and ensure accurate CPT/ICD-10 coding. Training is provided, with weekly pay and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• CPB or medical billing cert. desirable, not required.
• CPC or medical coding cert. desirable, not required.

Responsibilities

• Post and collect patient account payments and balance statements.
• Verify patients' insurance coverage; review and balance claims.
• Identify and correct rejected claims and follow up on denials.
• Answer billing and insurance questions; communicate policies to patients and staff.
• Import EFTs and manage aging receivables.
• Investigate precertifications when required; report any suspected fraud.

Position Purpose

The Billing and Coding Associate is responsible for entering payments within an EMR system and generating invoices to be sent to the patient. This position is responsible for accurately coding medical claims and sending electronically to insurance payers each day. Handles in-bound and out-bound calls, insurance verification, assisting patients with insurance questions, and working both patient and insurance aged receivables.

Role and Responsibilities

• Collects, posts, and manages patient account payments.
• Prepares and reviews patient statements.
• Imports and balances EFT’s.
• Identifies and corrects rejected claims.
• Reviews delinquent accounts and contacts for collection purposes.
• Verifies patients’ insurance coverage.
• Answer questions regarding billing and insurance policies.
• Process payments from insurance companies.
• Follows up to see if a claim is accepted or denied.
• Reviews and appeals unpaid and denied claims accordingly.
• Evaluates medical record documentation to ensure proper CPT and ICD-10 codes are billed appropriately.
• Obtains precertification, if required, for specific procedures.
• Investigates insurance fraud and reports if found.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Official High School Transcripts, Diploma or Equivalency Certificate
• Ability to navigate between different tabs and systems on the computer while attending phone calls.
• CPB or other Medical Billing Certification desired, but not required.
• CPC or Medical Coding Certification desired, but not required.
