Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Follow the rolling schedule to load billets onto the furnace charge table.
  • Locate billets in the billet yard and retrieve them as needed.
  • Load billets onto the furnace charge table and perform required checklists.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and assist with housekeeping.
  • Operate cranes and forklifts as necessary.
  • Report issues to supervisor or group leader promptly.
  • Adhere to safety rules and wear required PPE.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

This position's purposes is to load billets onto the furnace charge table in the order set out in the rolling schedule, as well as maintain cleanliness of area and inform supervisor and group leader of issues that need to be addressed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Work from the rolling schedule
  2. Locate and retrieve billets from the billet yard
  3. Load billets onto the furnace charge table
  4. Performa all required checklists
  5. Dump scrap
  6. Empty dust hoppers for saw and stand 1
  7. General Housekeeping
  8. Operate Cranes as necessary
  9. Operate Forklifts as necessary
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Other duties as assigned
  2. Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Mobility in plant
  • While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, etc.
  • The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Visual ability with or without correction
  • Communication abilities
HEALTH AND SAFETY
  1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
  2. Follow Company safety rules
  3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately
  4. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:
    • Safety shoes
    • Safety glasses
    • Hearing protection
    • Hard Hat
    • Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:
      • Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
      • Fire Retardant clothing
      • Acid PPE
  5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy
  6. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines
  7. Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations
  8. Maintain a clean and safe work area
