Job summary

Tri-City-Extrusion-Inc. is seeking a Material Handler to safely move aluminum extrusion bundles and support production by supplying materials and staging finished goods.

The role requires operating mobile equipment, pulling orders, and assisting with loading and packing operations. Candidates should be able to lift up to 100 pounds, follow safety procedures, and maintain a clean, organized work area. The position is on-site in a manufacturing plant.

Qualifications

  • Teamwork and communication skills required for coordinating with production and packing teams.

  • Ability to read tape measure and identify damaged product prior to shipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and work in a loud environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate material-handling equipment and move bundles of aluminum extrusions.
  • Pull orders from inventory and stage finished product.
  • Provide packing materials and supplies to press and packing areas.
  • Transport full carts to packing area and unload shipments from carriers.
  • Assist truck loaders in picking metal for loading on flatbeds.
  • Stock bundles on floor or racks and maintain organized workspace.
  • Read tape measures and identify damaged product prior to shipment.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness in packing area.

Job description

The Material Handler safely uses mobile equipment to move bundles of aluminum extrusions throughout the plant by pulling orders from inventory; delivering production materials/supplies and staging finished product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing/documenting pre-use inspections
  • Provides packing and press crews materials and supplies
  • Transports full carts to packing area and empty carts to the presses
  • Assist truck loaders in picking metal for loading on flatbeds
  • Provides billets to press saws
  • Stocks bundles of product on floor or in racks
  • Unload all outside carriers (dies, supplies, billets)
  • Keeps packing area clear on a daily basis

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Responsible for understanding, comprehending and implementing company procedures.

Other Skills and Abilities

Safely be able to operate all mobile equipment including a fork lift and Hubtex side lift. Accurately read a tape measure while measuring product. Employee must maintain a great deal of accuracy involving identifying damaged product prior to shipment to customer.

Employee must have the ability to perform the majority of the work while sitting 85% of the time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
