Job summary

The Iowa Clinic seeks a qualified Biller/Coder II to join the billing team in Central Iowa. You will review complex patient encounters, ensure accurate coding, and advise clinicians on documentation and billing requirements to minimize denials.

You will work with CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes, staying current with payer guidelines and CMS updates. A CPC certificate is required, with at least five years in a medical office setting.

Qualifications

• Requires 5 years of experience in a medical office and working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS.
• Exposed to diverse insurance programs preferred.
• CPC certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews complex patient encounters, procedures, and documentation for accurate coding.
• Verifies documentation supports all codes and identifies discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
• Serves as SME on CPT, ICD, HCPCS, modifiers, payer guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Provides real-time guidance to physicians on coding, documentation, and billing requirements.
• Participates in provider education, onboarding and specialty meetings to reduce denials and improve documentation.
• Responds to coding and workflow inquiries with timely support.
• Keeps current on CMS regulations, coding updates and payer policies.
• Participates in coding audits and documentation improvement initiatives.
• Supports team workload while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
