Job summary

Friends of the Children – Utah is seeking a bilingual Friend to mentor eight youth, building trusting, long-term relationships and supporting academic and personal goals. The role requires fluent English and Spanish, in-person work, and documentation of interactions.

You will spend 3–4 hours weekly with each child, help set plans, teach life skills, and navigate schools while collaborating with families and staff. Full-time, nontraditional hours including afternoons/evenings and some weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Willingness to commit for a minimum of three years.
• Pass a full criminal background check and MVR.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain long-term, caring relationships with eight children.
• Spend 3–4 hours weekly with each youth in home/school/community.
• Set goals with youth and caregivers; develop plans to meet them.
• Teach life skills and promote healthy habits; build self-esteem.
• Provide enrichment resources and support for families and youth.
• Document interactions and participate in evaluation processes.
• Work a full-time non-traditional schedule including afternoons/evenings/weekends.
• Manage allocated budget and administrative tasks.
