Job summary

Gandara Center is seeking a Youth Mentor who will provide one-to-one, strength-based support to youth under 21 in home and community settings. The role focuses on addressing daily living, social, and communication needs to improve functioning and reduce deficits.

The position requires bilingual capacity (English/Spanish or Portuguese preferred), a high school diploma or GED, and at least 2 years of youth-related experience.

Qualifications

• Degree: high school diploma or GED required.
• Driver’s license, auto, and proper auto insurance required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Preferred bilingual (Spanish/English).

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one, strength-based support to youth under 21.
• Engage youth in home and community activities aligned to treatment plan.
• Offer coaching to help navigate social contexts and learn new skills.
• Maintain weekly phone and face-to-face consultations.
• Collaborate with Case Managers, Probation Officers, Judges, Attorneys, Teachers, Physicians, etc.
• Show awareness of race, culture, gender, sexuality, disability, economics, and lived experience.
• Submit progress reports and comply with guidelines.
• Provide transportation for treatment activities.
